Welcome to Transition Academy
Using their dream career and the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Workforce
Framework as the context, students will be provided with a technical foundation for understanding some of
the roles competition, digital transformation and entrepreneurship play in assisting individuals (including
those routinely engaged in organized sports) enhance the global competitiveness. Topics include organizational
and technical foundations of information systems including, but not limited to the fundamental principles
of: (a) the Internet of Things; (b) systems & software development lifecycles; (c) big data and business
intelligence; (d) Cybersecurity; and (e) Scholastic eSports. Through a series of weekly discussions, written
assignments and practical hands-on activities, students will be exposed to and engage in work-related tasks
associated with common functional divisions of a typical IT Department. Upon completion of the first year of
the program, participants will pass Level 2 of a foundational Digital Literary and Citizenship certification exam.
K - 12 Education Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this experience, participants should be able to:
Discuss relationships that exist between technology, innovation, and intrapreneurship in the context of
global competitiveness for individuals and organizations.
Identify and demonstrate the use of common productivity and collaboration software to support business
processes.
Identify and discuss some of the divisions in a typical IT Department and some of their roles in fostering
and supporting organizational innovation. Some of those divisions are:
AI, Automation, and Robotics Corporate Applications
Application Development Ecommerce
Architecture Information Security
Business Intelligence Infrastructure
Business Solutions Training and Professional Development
Cloud Services Operations
Communications Project Management Office
Discuss relationship among ethical, social, and political issues that are raised by technology and IT
and how they affect everyday life.
Demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and aptitudes as well as the self-efficacy necessary to mitigate
various computer and network security threats by successfully passing of a foundational Digital
Literary and Citizenship certification exam.
